Upgrading Your Existing Wood Deck
Recent statistics indicate there are 40 million+ wood decks in the U.S. that might need a little upgrading. Do you own one of them?
Here are a few ideas to turn your tired old backyard into a revived, beautiful outdoor living space:
- Wood arbor add-on. Tired of the neighbor's peering eyes while you're sipping iced tea on the deck? Add a wood arbor to one end for a cool architectural touch. Grow your favorite climbing vine up the sides for an additional touch of beauty.
- Have a seat. Before your next party, add wood benches all along the sides of your deck. If you build it, they will sit!
- Onward and outward. Is your wood deck too narrow for comfort? Rather than step on each others toes, expand the width of your wood deck out into the yard. Double - even triple! - the size, then sit back and enjoy the view!
- Cheap face-lift. Boards looking a little worn? Wood decking is an all-natural product, so a little wear and tear is normal. For a fresh start, pull up your old flooring and replace it with new pressure-treated wood. Choose a new stain color, and you have a brand-new wood deck for a fraction of the cost of building something completely new!
